Security system upgrade · Marbella

Upgrade your Marbella villa's security system

You rarely need to rip everything out — you need to find out what is missing. We add AI, perimeter detection and reliable phone alerts to what your Marbella villa already has, with a photo report.

What we find in Marbella villas

INHERITED

The previous owner's system

You bought the villa with no passwords or documentation. We recover access or factory-reset, and hand it over in your name.

NO ALERT

Records but never alerts

Router off the UPS, no heartbeat, misconfigured notifications: the system records the burglary but does not prevent it. Among the first things we fix.

COAST

Corrosion on the front line

Brackets and fixings rusted by salt air. We replace with 316L where due — it decides whether the system lasts five years or two.

The upgrade adds the missing perimeter layer and AI (perimeter security in Marbella, with AI). Service detail: system upgrade.

The process

From the visit to a fixed quote

1

On-site technical visit

We walk the plot with you: boundaries, access points, blind spots, vegetation and where an intruder would actually come from. Without this visit there is no serious quote, because every plot in your area has its own geometry.

2

Shadow and sight-line map

We mark where radar covers the open volume, where a hedge or wall casts a shadow, and which critical planes — glass facade, gate, low wall — call for a LiDAR curtain.

3

Layered design

We choose which layer solves each stretch: radar for the garden, LiDAR for the fine plane, thermal for the long unlit line, AI to decide. Neither too much nor too little.

4

Fixed quote

You get a fixed written price, with the specific equipment and the reason for it. What you see is what you pay; no surprises halfway through.

5

Install, test and handover

We mount, configure and test detection with real walk-throughs. We hand the system over working, explained and documented in your language.

Architecture

Why no single layer works alone

Every technology has a blind spot. Radar covers volume but not fine detail; LiDAR measures a plane precisely but not the whole garden; thermal sees heat at night but does not decide what it is; AI decides but needs something to look. Selling any one of them as a complete solution is selling a hole.

The architecture that works in your area combines all four in layers: radar sweeps the open volume, LiDAR seals the critical planes, thermal covers the unlit lines and AI provides the judgement that says whether a detection is a person. The alert only fires when two layers agree, which is why it does not trip on a branch but does on a real intruder.

How many layers and where depends on your plot, not on a boxed package. That is why everything goes through the visit first.

LiDAR

LiDAR measures real size, it doesn't guess it

Where millimetric precision is needed — a glass facade, the plane of a wall, a gate — the LiDAR curtain raises an invisible laser plane and measures the distance to every point many times a second. Because it knows the geometry of the background, it knows to the centimetre when something appears that was not there before, and what real size it has.

That allows what a conventional alarm cannot: deliberately ignoring a cat crossing while firing on a person approaching the glass. The threshold is set by zone, so an animal's low passage does not count and an adult body does. In a your area home with a garden and wildlife, that difference is what keeps the system from crying wolf at night.

LiDAR is Class 1 — as eye-safe as a CD player — and needs no light, so it works the same by day or in total darkness. It is the fine layer that complements radar on the planes that demand exactness.

Coast and materials

Salt eats badly chosen systems

Near the sea the silent enemy is not the intruder, it is corrosion. The ISO 12944 standard classes the coastal environment as C5 (“very high” corrosivity), and in that category a poorly chosen bracket or housing can degrade in a few years what lasts a decade inland.

That is why in your area the choice of materials is no detail: stainless steel of the right grade, enclosures and ingress ratings meant for salt and damp, and a mounting that creates no rust points. A security system that rusts stops being security.

The same goes for electrical protection: near the coast and on high ground, storm surge is real, and one strike can take out an entire system. Surge protection is not an extra — it is what makes the system last.

Zoning

Zoning: making an alarm say where

A house protected as a single block can only say “something is happening”. A house divided into zones says “someone is on the north line, by the pool”, and that difference is what lets you decide in seconds instead of stepping out blind.

We divide the your area plot into logical zones — perimeter, garden, access points, the immediate surround of the house — and each has its own rule: what is watched, at what hour, at what sensitivity. At night the outer perimeter can be armed while you move around inside; when away, everything. The same installation protects differently depending on the moment.

Zoning also narrows the alert: instead of one sensor tripping on everything, each zone reports separately, and the image tells you exactly where to look.

Access points

The weak point isn't the fence — it's the gate

In most homes the intruder does not climb the highest wall; they come in where there is already a gap made for coming in: the vehicle gate, the service door, the gardener's or the pool access. These are the points legitimate people use every day, and precisely for that reason the worst-watched.

In your area we treat those accesses as zones in their own right: detection that tells the expected passage from the one that is not, image verification of who arrives, and a record of every opening. The point is not to turn your home into a bunker, but to know who comes in when you are away, and to make sure an open service door is not an invisible hole.

Where there is domestic staff, maintenance or frequent deliveries, this is the layer that turns a normal flow of people into something traceable, with no friction for you.

The alert

What happens, exactly, when the alert fires

A good system is not judged by what it does at rest, but by what happens in the ten seconds after a real detection. The moment two layers agree there is a person where there should not be, the sequence starts: an alert to your phone with the image of that moment, a recording of the zone, and — if you choose — active deterrence with lighting and siren.

You get a photo, not an anonymous buzz: you see whether it is the courier, the gardener or someone you don't recognise, and act with judgement instead of panic. In your area, where many homes are watched from a distance, that image is the difference between calling for nothing and calling with reason.

And the recording stays: an image obtained correctly, framed within your property, is usable evidence. The system does not just scare the intruder — it documents what happened.

Data protection

Cameras that obey the law, not dodge it

A camera that sees beyond your fence can become a legal problem instead of protection. Spanish data-protection rules (LOPDGDD, art. 22) are clear: a visible information sign, a frame limited to your property and access points, and image retention of one month at most unless required otherwise.

We treat this as part of the project, not as paperwork afterwards. We minimise the field of view to your plot, place the mandatory signage and set retention to the legal limit. In your area, where many plots border the street or a neighbour, framing well from the start avoids the complaints that year after year rank among the most frequent before the data-protection agency.

Recording well is also recording within the law: an image obtained correctly is usable; one obtained by intruding on a neighbour can turn against you.

The architecture

The four detection layers

RADAR

Movement in the open volume

Thousands of m² from one unit, immune to rain, shadows and vegetation. See radar.

LIDAR

A millimetric critical plane

A laser curtain that measures real object size by zone: ignores a cat, detects a person. See LiDAR.

THERMAL

Night detection without light

Sees heat in total darkness, for long sight lines and unlit fincas. See thermal.

AI

The deciding layer

Person, vehicle or animal — the end of false alarms. See AI cameras.

Frequently asked questions

Can I reuse my villa's cameras?

Almost always partly: if they give a decent image and the cabling is sound, they are reused and AI analytics added. Whatever is not worth keeping, we say so in writing.

I bought the villa and the system is the previous owner's — can you take it over?

Yes, very common in Marbella. We recover access or factory-reset, reconfigure and document with new credentials in your name.

My system does not alert my phone — can it be fixed?

Usually network, power or configuration. Among the first things the survey checks, and the cheapest to fix.

What does the survey cost?

A fixed price, half a day and a photo report. If you commission the upgrade, it is deducted from the project.

Can you add perimeter detection to what I have?

Yes: radar, LiDAR or beams by terrain, integrated with your cameras via open standards.

Do you correct angles that film the street or neighbour?

Yes, with privacy masks and documented re-siting — a legal requirement that also prevents disputes.

Do you upgrade any brand?

We work on ONVIF, RTSP, MQTT and relay, so in most cases yes.

Do you work in English?

Yes, including the handover documentation.

Will the siren disturb neighbours?

It is set to the municipal ordinance (in Málaga city, 60 s and 85 dBA at 3 m). Deterrence is reinforced with zoned lighting.

How long does the installation take?

A typical villa is done in a few working days: one day for setting-out and zoned cabling, the rest for mounting, configuration and real on-site detection tests. We hand it over working and explained.

What happens if the power or internet goes down?

The critical chain is local and does not depend on the cloud: detection and siren keep working without internet, and a power backup covers outages. The alert to your phone uses the mobile network, with a second path when the fixed line fails.

Can I see the cameras from abroad?

Yes: the image alert and video access reach your phone wherever you are. It is exactly why many second-home owners install it.

Is it GDPR-compliant if a camera sees the street?

Yes: we place the mandatory information sign, minimise the frame to your property and set retention to the legal one-month limit (LOPDGDD, art. 22). It is part of the project, not an extra.

Do I need building work to install it?

Rarely any heavy work. Existing conduits are reused wherever possible, and where they are not, the cabling is run discreetly. The specifics are decided on the visit, seeing the plot.

What if I already have cameras — are they usable?

It depends on the model. On the upgrade visit we check what is worth keeping — cabling, recorder, valid cameras — and add only the missing perimeter layer and AI, with a photo report.

Do you provide a warranty and maintenance?

Each device keeps its manufacturer warranty, and we offer optional periodic servicing. A perimeter system needs its zones checked and optics cleaned once or twice a year to truly perform.

Why won't you quote over the phone?

Because a serious price depends on the radar shadow, the real sight lines and the subdivision of your plot, and that can only be measured on site. A phone number would be made up; we prefer a fixed quote after the visit.

What is perimeter security?

Detecting the intruder on the grounds — at the fence, in the garden or on the drive — before they reach the house. It pairs a detection layer (radar, LiDAR, beams) with image verification; the alert only fires when both agree.

How is it different from a normal alarm?

A traditional alarm warns once the intruder is inside. Perimeter security warns while they are still at the fence, and tells a person from a cat, a wild boar or a branch in the wind.

What is “AI perimeter security”?

Adding image classification to detection: the AI camera decides whether it is a person, vehicle or animal, and only then is the alert raised. That is what eliminates false alarms from wildlife and vegetation.

Radar, LiDAR or thermal — which do I need?

It depends on the terrain: radar for the open volume, LiDAR for critical planes (glass facade, wall), thermal for long unlit sight lines. They are almost always combined.

Are you connected to an alarm receiving centre?

No. We are not an ARC and provide no guarding or patrol: the alert, with an image, reaches your phone directly. No compulsory fee.

How much does a perimeter security system cost?

It depends on the surface, subdivision and layers needed. We do not quote by phone: the radar shadow and real sight lines are measured on site, and that is where the price is set.

Shall we talk about your home?

No-obligation technical visit anywhere in the province of Malaga. We work in English and Spanish.
