System upgrade

Upgrading an existing security system

You rarely need to rip everything out — you need to find out what is missing. We add AI classification, perimeter detection and reliable phone alerts on top of what you have, and tell you honestly what is worth keeping.

The seven faults we find almost every time

  • The router is not on the UPS, only the recorder: in a power cut the system records but cannot alert you.
  • No heartbeat: when the system dies, nobody notices until it is needed.
  • Microphones enabled by default on many cameras: an unnecessary legal risk.
  • Angles covering the street or a neighbour — video surveillance ranks year after year among the most frequent AEPD complaints.
  • False alarms never tuned out, until the owner switches the system off.
  • Retention misconfigured: the legal maximum in Spain is one month.
  • No water-leak detection — the most expensive silent failure in an empty house.

How the upgrade works

1 · SURVEY

The real state, in writing

Half a day at your home: cameras, recorder, network, power, angles, firmware. A photo report listing what stays, what gets corrected and what is missing.

2 · PROPOSAL

One closed price

What is reused and what is added — AI, a perimeter layer, backup power, a second communication path — with a fixed price and no incomparable parts lists.

3 · DELIVERY

Tuning included

Installation, configuration, and the fine-tuning against false alarms with your dog and your garden. Handover dossier with credentials, coverage plan and settings.

Frequently asked questions

Can I reuse my old cameras?

Almost always partly: if they give a decent image and the cabling is sound, they are reused and AI analytics is added. Whatever is not worth keeping, we will tell you in writing.

Can analogue cameras be moved to IP without replacing the cabling?

Often yes: the existing coax can be reused with adapters in many cases, though PoE and final quality are assessed camera by camera.

My recorder does not send phone notifications — can that be fixed?

Usually it is configuration, network or power. It is among the first things the survey checks and among the cheapest to fix.

How much does it cost to upgrade a camera system?

It depends on how much is reused. That is why we start with a fixed-price survey: we will know what stays before talking budget.

I bought the house and the system is the previous owner's — can you take it over?

Yes, very common. Access is recovered or factory-reset, reconfigured and documented with new credentials in your name.

Is it worth repairing or better to install from scratch?

The survey decides: if there is a usable base, upgrading is cheaper; if the system is exhausted, new equipment is proposed with reasons, not by default.

Can you add person detection to my cameras?

Yes: an AI recorder or an analytics appliance adds person, vehicle and animal classification to existing ONVIF cameras.

My alarm is over ten years old — is it still worth keeping?

It depends on its condition and whether it can be integrated. Sometimes the cabling and sensors stay and the brain and verification are modernised; sometimes it does not pay. The survey tells us.

Retention is set to more than a month — is that a problem?

Yes: the legal maximum in Spain is one month. We adjust it as part of the upgrade.

Are my cameras' microphones a legal risk?

They ship enabled on many models, and audio is regulated far more strictly than images. We disable them by default and document it.

Does my system film the street or the neighbour?

It is the number-one source of disputes and AEPD complaints. In the survey we correct angles and apply privacy masks, documented in the dossier.

What do I gain by adding AI to what I have?

The end of false alarms from animals, vegetation and light, and the ability to search events by object type. It is the highest-impact improvement for the least work.

How long does a technical survey take?

Half a day at your home, with a photo report. The price is stated before we come and, if you commission the upgrade, it is deducted from the project.

Will you try to sell me more than I need?

That is not the model: if the system is fine, we will say so. The survey with a report exists precisely so the proposal is verifiable.

Do you upgrade systems of any brand?

We work on open standards (ONVIF, RTSP, MQTT, relay), so in most cases yes. Anything depending on a proprietary API is assessed first.

Is it worth upgrading, or should I replace everything?

There is almost always something worth keeping: cabling, brackets, some cameras. We start with a technical survey and a photo report; if your system is fine, we will say so. Replacing everything unseen is the most expensive way to solve the problem.

Can you add AI to the cameras I already have?

Often, yes: an AI recorder or an analytics appliance adds person, vehicle and animal classification to existing ONVIF cameras. It is the most economical entry point and can be extended later.

My system records but never alerts me. Can that be fixed?

Usually it is configuration, network or power: a recorder with no reliable route to the internet, a router outside the UPS, misconfigured notifications. It is among the first things the survey checks — and among the cheapest to fix.

The previous installer is gone and I have no passwords.

A very common situation, especially after buying a property. Depending on the equipment, access is recovered or factory-reset and reconfigured — and everything is documented in a handover dossier with new credentials in your name, so it never happens again.

What usually fails in older systems?

The same points, almost every time: only the recorder on the UPS, no heartbeat monitoring, microphones enabled without anyone knowing, angles covering the street or a neighbour, retention set beyond the one-month legal maximum, and no water-leak protection at all.

What does the survey cost?

A fixed price, half a day of work, and a written photo report. We tell you the price before we come; if you then commission the upgrade, the survey fee is deducted from the project.

Shall we start with the survey?

A technical survey with a photo report, at a fixed price, anywhere in Málaga province.
