Finca security systems

Finca security systems in Málaga

A finca is not protected like a chalet: long distances, country wildlife and often no fixed network. Early detection at the access, thermal in the dark, and a chain that runs on its own.

The logic of a finca

DISTANCE

Help is far away

On scattered plots, early detection is time: ranged radar at the access and around the house, with a photo alert to decide.

NO NETWORK

Real autonomy

A local critical chain — siren, recording, relay — with backup power; alerts use the available mobile coverage with a second path.

NIGHT

Thermal where there is no light

Long sight lines and total darkness: bi-spectral thermal detects presence and the visible channel provides the evidence.

For very large plots see large properties; by area, Ronda & inland and the Guadalhorce Valley.

Autonomy

A system that doesn't fall when the network does

Many modern systems depend on the cloud for the essentials: lose the internet and they stop detecting. On a Málaga finca or villa, where power and network cuts are part of life, that is a design fault.

That is why the critical chain we install is local: detection, logic and siren live in the house itself and keep working without internet. The cloud is there to alert you and to let you see the image, not to decide. A power backup keeps the system up through outages, and the alert to your phone uses the mobile network, with a second path when the fixed line fails.

The result is a system that protects the same on the day everything works and the day the power, the fibre or both go down. Deterrence cannot depend on the router being on.

Wildlife

Wild boar, dogs and the noise that kills alarms

In this province the wild boar is no rural anecdote: it is documented inside the urban core. A study by the veterinary association distributed the sightings with Marbella at 40%, Málaga at 30%, Fuengirola at 22.5% and Benahavís at 7.5%. Add to that deer, foxes and, indoors, your own dog.

To a blind motion detector, all of that is an alarm. To a system with image classification, they are animals: recorded, not waking you. In Málaga that is not a luxury, it is the requirement for the system to still be switched on after the first month.

The fine tuning — what size counts as a person, which zone is watched at night, what is ignored — is done on site, with the real wildlife of your plot, not with factory defaults.

Radar

Why the radar shadow is measured on the ground

Perimeter radar covers thousands of square metres from a single unit and is unaffected by rain, shadow or vegetation, because it measures movement in a volume, not an image. But that volume is not a perfect semicircle on a flat plane: a dense hedge, a low wall, the slope of the plot or a parked vehicle each cast a shadow where the radar cannot see.

That is why setting-out in Málaga is not done on a cadastral drawing but by walking the plot. We mount the unit at the right height — around 3.5 m — and check with real walk-throughs where coverage begins and ends, where two objects closer than three metres merge into one, and which stretches need a second layer. That shadow map is what separates a system that truly warns from one that leaves a blind corridor along the wall.

The radar also classifies person, vehicle and unknown object, and filters small objects — a cat, a rabbit — and things that sway in the wind, such as a branch. That is the first sieve before the image confirms.

Coast and materials

Salt eats badly chosen systems

Near the sea the silent enemy is not the intruder, it is corrosion. The ISO 12944 standard classes the coastal environment as C5 (“very high” corrosivity), and in that category a poorly chosen bracket or housing can degrade in a few years what lasts a decade inland.

That is why in Málaga the choice of materials is no detail: stainless steel of the right grade, enclosures and ingress ratings meant for salt and damp, and a mounting that creates no rust points. A security system that rusts stops being security.

The same goes for electrical protection: near the coast and on high ground, storm surge is real, and one strike can take out an entire system. Surge protection is not an extra — it is what makes the system last.

Long absences

The house that sits empty for months

A large share of this province's homes stand empty most of the year, and that is precisely their most fragile point: no one notices a forced window, a water leak or a power cut until the damage is done. Second-home security is not only about intruders; it is about finding out.

For Málaga houses that sit empty for months we add, if wanted, a “sign of life”: the system confirms each day that it is still standing, with power and communication, and warns you if anything stops responding. Water telemetry with automatic shut-off keeps a January leak from becoming a bill and a disaster discovered at Easter.

Everything is seen and controlled from your phone, whether you are in Málaga or in another country. The empty house stops being a black box.

Access points

The weak point isn't the fence — it's the gate

In most homes the intruder does not climb the highest wall; they come in where there is already a gap made for coming in: the vehicle gate, the service door, the gardener's or the pool access. These are the points legitimate people use every day, and precisely for that reason the worst-watched.

In Málaga we treat those accesses as zones in their own right: detection that tells the expected passage from the one that is not, image verification of who arrives, and a record of every opening. The point is not to turn your home into a bunker, but to know who comes in when you are away, and to make sure an open service door is not an invisible hole.

Where there is domestic staff, maintenance or frequent deliveries, this is the layer that turns a normal flow of people into something traceable, with no friction for you.

Deterrence

Deterring beats recording the burglar

The best incident is the one that never happens. An intruder sizing up a house looks for the easy way in, and a plot that visibly detects, lights up and reacts is a plot that gets skipped for the next one. Visible deterrence does more work than any recording after the fact.

In Málaga we pair early detection with zoned response: when something enters the perimeter, that zone's lighting comes on and, where appropriate, the siren marks presence. It is not theatre: behind it is a real detection that has already classified this as a person, so the reaction does not trip on a cat or disturb the neighbours for nothing.

The goal is not to collect videos of attempts, but for there to be no attempt. A perimeter that reacts in time changes the equation for whoever is watching from outside.

The process

From the visit to a fixed quote

1

On-site technical visit

We walk the plot with you: boundaries, access points, blind spots, vegetation and where an intruder would actually come from. Without this visit there is no serious quote, because every plot in Málaga has its own geometry.

2

Shadow and sight-line map

We mark where radar covers the open volume, where a hedge or wall casts a shadow, and which critical planes — glass facade, gate, low wall — call for a LiDAR curtain.

3

Layered design

We choose which layer solves each stretch: radar for the garden, LiDAR for the fine plane, thermal for the long unlit line, AI to decide. Neither too much nor too little.

4

Fixed quote

You get a fixed written price, with the specific equipment and the reason for it. What you see is what you pay; no surprises halfway through.

5

Install, test and handover

We mount, configure and test detection with real walk-throughs. We hand the system over working, explained and documented in your language.

The architecture

The four detection layers

RADAR

Movement in the open volume

Thousands of m² from one unit, immune to rain, shadows and vegetation. See radar.

LIDAR

A millimetric critical plane

A laser curtain that measures real object size by zone: ignores a cat, detects a person. See LiDAR.

THERMAL

Night detection without light

Sees heat in total darkness, for long sight lines and unlit fincas. See thermal.

AI

The deciding layer

Person, vehicle or animal — the end of false alarms. See AI cameras.

Frequently asked questions

How do you protect an isolated finca?

With detection at the access and around the house, adequately ranged radar and a local chain that works without the internet.

Does it work without fixed internet?

Yes: the critical part is local and alerts use mobile coverage with a second path. The design comes from measuring coverage during the visit.

A thermal camera for a finca with no light?

It is the ideal case: thermal detects presence in total darkness and the visible channel provides the evidence.

Does it solve country wildlife?

Yes: image classification with an animal category tells deer, foxes and boar from a person.

Does it warn of vehicles at the access?

Yes: vehicle detection on the track for early warning.

Does it protect barns and tool sheds?

Yes, as independent zones within the same system.

Do you charge for travel inland?

It is agreed in advance, transparently before booking.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the surface and layers; a fixed price after the visit.

How is it different from a normal alarm?

A traditional alarm warns once the intruder is inside. Perimeter security warns while they are still at the fence, and tells a person from a cat, a wild boar or a branch in the wind.

What is “AI perimeter security”?

Adding image classification to detection: the AI camera decides whether it is a person, vehicle or animal, and only then is the alert raised. That is what eliminates false alarms from wildlife and vegetation.

Radar, LiDAR or thermal — which do I need?

It depends on the terrain: radar for the open volume, LiDAR for critical planes (glass facade, wall), thermal for long unlit sight lines. They are almost always combined.

Are you connected to an alarm receiving centre?

No. We are not an ARC and provide no guarding or patrol: the alert, with an image, reaches your phone directly. No compulsory fee.

How much does a perimeter security system cost?

It depends on the surface, subdivision and layers needed. We do not quote by phone: the radar shadow and real sight lines are measured on site, and that is where the price is set.

Does it work if I have a dog or there are wild boar?

Yes: image classification with an animal category records the animal without raising an alert. It is essential in this province, where urban wild boar are documented.

How do I book a technical visit?

Through the form, by email to oficina@aiperimetersystems.eu, or via WhatsApp. The visit is free and without obligation.

Do you only work with private homes?

Yes, exclusively: villas, chalets, fincas and urbanisation houses, across Málaga province.

Do you upgrade existing systems?

Yes: we check what is worth keeping and add the missing perimeter layer and AI. See system upgrade.

Do you work in English?

Yes, in English and Spanish, including the handover documentation.

Will the siren disturb neighbours?

It is set to the municipal ordinance (in Málaga city, 60 s and 85 dBA at 3 m). Deterrence is reinforced with zoned lighting.

How long does the installation take?

A typical villa is done in a few working days: one day for setting-out and zoned cabling, the rest for mounting, configuration and real on-site detection tests. We hand it over working and explained.

What happens if the power or internet goes down?

The critical chain is local and does not depend on the cloud: detection and siren keep working without internet, and a power backup covers outages. The alert to your phone uses the mobile network, with a second path when the fixed line fails.

Can I see the cameras from abroad?

Yes: the image alert and video access reach your phone wherever you are. It is exactly why many second-home owners install it.

Is it GDPR-compliant if a camera sees the street?

Yes: we place the mandatory information sign, minimise the frame to your property and set retention to the legal one-month limit (LOPDGDD, art. 22). It is part of the project, not an extra.

Do I need building work to install it?

Rarely any heavy work. Existing conduits are reused wherever possible, and where they are not, the cabling is run discreetly. The specifics are decided on the visit, seeing the plot.

Shall we talk about your home?

No-obligation technical visit anywhere in the province of Malaga. We work in English and Spanish.
